azan words for new born baby
Giving Adhan when a baby is born All praise is to Allah. Blessings and peace be in the Messenger of Allah, his home and companions. It is recommended (mustahabb) according to Hanafi school (and similarly Maliki, Shafi`i and Hanbali schools), to call Adhan in the right ear of the newborn [Ibn `Abidin, Radd al-Muhtar] and then iqamah in the left ear [Qari, Mirqat ; Kashmiri, al-`Arf al-Shadhiy.] It should be noted that the evidence of the later iqamah in the left ear is weaker than that of the adhan in the right ear, and therefore some scholars mention only the adhan for the newborn. [for example, see Nawawi, al-Majmu] It is reported that Abu Rafi` (a Companion) said: "I saw the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and his home and grant them peace) give Adhan in the ear of al-Hasan, the son of `Ali, when Fatima gave birth to him. " Abu Rafi is reported to have said: "I saw the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and his home and grant them peace) give Adhan in the ear of al-Hasan, the son of 'Ali, when Fatima gave birth to him." This hadiz is registered by al-Tirmidhi, Abu Dawud, Ahmad, al-Hakim and al-Bayhaqi, and is one of the strongest hadith on the subject. Hafiz al-Tirmidhi judged it as authentic, but it actually contains some weaknesses, as al-Mundhiri and others pointed out. One of his narrators, `Asim ibn `Ubaydullah, was considered weak by some (but not all) hadith authorities, but was not overly weak or a contested liar. However, even if this narrative is taken as weak, it is strengthened by other supporting narratives, as Allamah Mubarakpuri pointed out in Tuhfat al-Ahwadhi (his commentary on Sunan al-Tirmidhi), Shaykh `Abd al-Qadir al-Arna'ut (in the notes of his editor on Tuhfat al-Mawdud ) and others. It is generally accepted among the scholars of hadith (as documented by Imam Ahmad, Sufyan ibn `Uyaynah, al-Tirmidhi and al-Bukhari) that a moderately weak hadith can be acceptable if there are enough supporting narratives. In addition, Hafiz al-Tirmidhi has mentioned that "the practice is on it", that is, that the practice of the primitive Muslim community was in agreement with this hadiz, indicating that this rite has a basis. Hafiz Ibn al-Qayyim, in his valuable book on newborn regulations Tuhfat al-Mawdud bi-Ahkam al-Mawlud, has included a chapter entitled "Concerning the desirability of giving adhan in [the newborn]â€TMs right ear, and iqamah in the left." Three hadiths are quoted on the subject (of variable authenticities), and then proceeds to point out some of the possible deeper and rational meanings behind this practice: it is prudent to ensure that the first words the baby hears are words that contain the majesty and grandeur of Allah, and a reminder of the testimony of faith by which one enters Islam, and with which one would be remembered by other Muslims about one†We also know (as narrated by Muslim) that every human being has one of the jinn that accompanies him, and to call Adhan to the newborn ensures that the call to goodness and true faith precedes the whispers to the evil that would come later from the accompanying devil. It is also established (as Bujari and Muslim tell) that Satan flees from Adhan, and this reveals an additional benefit. We must point out that these fundamentals are not in themselves proofs (as if we had no hadiz on the subject, then such reasoning would not be sufficient to make the practice sunnah). Rather, since there is already a basis for practice, as mentioned above, these are beneficial ideas and reminders. In a similar note, Shah `Abdul-`Aziz al-Dihlawi has speculated that the adhan e iqamah given to birth are very possibly intended for the personâ€TMs funeral prayer after death [Kashmiri, al-`Arf al-Shadhiy], because we know that there is no adhan and iqamah called Salat al-Janazah, and any time can strike. And Allah knows better. Sidi Suheil Laher Share the knowledge of Islam while I myself learn them.
